TWiT files lawsuit against Twitter re alleged breach of contract

With the sheer amount of businesses in Florida and across the nation, companies are bound to end up with similar names from time to time. While in some cases this may not lead to conflict, if two companies with similar names operate in competitive fields, disputes may arise. An audio and video media company named TWiT has recently filed a lawsuit against Twitter, accusing the social media giant of breach of contract.

According to the lawsuit, the company TWiT, which stands for This Week in Tech, originally allowed the company Twitter to keep its name under certain conditions. Representatives from TWiT state that the two companies formed an agreement to coexist due to the fact that each operated in separate fields. However, TWiT claims the other company has recently violated this agreement upon deciding to branch out into audio and video.

In the lawsuit, TWiT accuses Twitter of breach of contract and trademark infringement. TWiT is seeking to prevent the other company from expanding into its field of operation while using its current trademark. According to reports, the two companies first sought to resolve the issue through negotiations, but TWiT asserts that these talks failed to produce any results.

When a company feels that a breach of contract has occurred, owners may seek to safeguard their companies from harm, but they might be uncertain where to turn for guidance. When facing complex matters of this nature, a person could consult with an attorney for advice on available options for legal recourse. An attorney can thoroughly evaluate the situation and assist a client in Florida in protecting his or her business interests through the necessary channels.
